The Bali Green School is a primary and secondary school located along the Ayung River near Ubud, Bali, Indonesia that envisions to provide a natural, holistic, student-centered learning environment that empowers and inspires students to be creative, innovative, green leaders. The school’s architecture is built on ecologically-sustainable design and its curriculum focuses on sustainability education for young students. http://www.greenschool.org/
Yet, as I proceeded to look steadily and intently on the architectural details of the school, my fears started to distract my thoughts. My pulse started to beat faster. I was bothered as I was beginning to wonder myself if I was overly ambitious and aggressive in my timeline to begin the building of the Philippine Blaan School in 2016. Equally, when I was talking to the administrative staff, my inferiority complex was moving and was devouring me.
On the spur of the moment, I felt butterflies in my stomach as I was thinking over Mr. Mechai Viravaidya, founder of the Mechai Pattana Bamboo School and Mr. John Hardy, founder of the Bali Green School. Both of them have silver spoons while I am in a state of keeping the wolf from the doorway. Moreover, thinking of my visit in MARA Junior High Schools in Malaysia which were fully and conveniently funded by the government, the number of butterflies in my stomach gurgled. I can totally feel the striking addition of my acid secretion.
With a boggling, mind and a high-strung heart, I continued to stray inside the Green School. On my way to the Green Camp, an adventure ground of the school that offers eco-innovative experiences for school groups, families, tours, and corporate groups; I arrived across a bamboo post, "You are entering a stress free zone." Immediately, I came nearer to the bamboo post, closed my eyes, sighed deeply and lean calmly on the spot. I stood up peacefully, looked into the heavens while composedly uttering my personal manifesto,
I believe success begins with a dream.
I believe, I need to strive hard, build smart plans and sustain systemic actions in working out my dreams.
I believe I need to shelter my dreams, safeguard my inspiration, shield my commitment,
surmount every challenge and shake off all discouragements
for my quest for my marginalized indigenous community.
The post made me perfectly grin. It was a captivating green reflection in a green school.
